Achievements
In 1997 through 1998, Mr. Hawkins assisted various clients in the development of a groundwater management plan and basin adjudication in the Pomona Valley. These negotiations culminated in a stipulated judgment which was entered in December 1998.
In 1999, Mr. Hawkins obtained substantial mitigation and a multimillion dollar settlement for a private landowner in connection with a right of way acquisition for the Foothill Freeway (I-210).
In 2000, Mr. Hawkins represented agricultural producers in the Mojave River Basin Adjudication and successfully resisted an effort to reduce groundwater production for agricultural producers.
In 2000, Mr. Hawkins represented various landowners in San Bernardino in connection with right of way acquisitions in the City of Upland in connection with the Foothill Freeway (I-210). He obtained substantial mitigation for project impacts as well as several multimillion dollar settlements.
In 2002, Mr. Hawkins successfully represented a landowner seeking to enforce a mining lease. The parties successfully settled the matter with submission of mining applications.
Also, in 2002, Mr. Hawkins successfully represented a landowner and business owner who alleged that its business was adversely affected by permit violations on a project in San Diego County. Settlement included permit compliance.
In 2003, Mr. Hawkins successfully represented landowners in Orange County and obtained the highest settlement award against a municipality for a taking claim involving trespass and property damage.
