Professional Activities
Mr. Hawkins has written and spoken extensively on issues in his areas of practice. For instance, in 1998, he discussed issues in eminent domain law including severance damages in "Establishing the Larger Parcel" at CLE International.
In addition, he wrote with others "The New Age Land Grab: Habitat Protection as the Politically Correct (and Cheap) Taking of Private Property," in Shepard's California Water Law and Policy Reporter, August 1994 and "Safe Drinking Water Act Re-Authorization: In the Eye of the Storm," ABA Natural Resources & Environment Magazine, Summer 1994.
He has also written articles on the powers of the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California and other issues.
Also, he has represented small business owners in transactions and litigation in connection with business organizational, unfair business practices, employment and contractual issues.
Further, Mr. Hawkins has been active in various bar associations. For instance, in 1997, he served on the House of Delegates for the Oregon State Bar.
In addition, he is a member of the Orange County Bar Association and various sections within the OCBA including the Real Estate Section.
Further, Mr. Hawkins is a member of the Litigation Section and the Real Estate Section of the California Bar Association.
Finally, Mr. Hawkins is a member of the American Bar Association and is a member of the Natural Resources Section of the ABA.
